Personally, I come from a free festivals and travelling background. New Age Travellers etc.
\nA number of sayings have helped guide my life over time. Like….<\/p>\n

Bring what you expect to find?
\nIf not you, who?
\nIf not now, when?
\nIf not here, where?<\/p>\n

In sum, this means self-reliance.\u00a0 It means gatherings are ALWAYS better, when people attending don\u2019t just attend , but are a main part of the act.\u00a0 It is obvious to all those there, when this magic happens.<\/p>\n

This is actually where I came in. 1972 Windsor, Stonehenge etc…..\u00a0 These were my motives then and remain so now. Of course the authorities have difficulty with a system that means they are not in sole charge, hence all the law and violence since the Beanfield etc……<\/p>\n

Over time, I have been involved in raising awareness about the law changes and their implications to us all.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Public Order Act 1986
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Noise Act
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Barry Legg MP: Places of Entertainments (Increased Penalty) Act
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Security Services Act
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Terrorism Acts<\/p>\n

And now all the Acts\u00a0 that have been going through parliament –\u00a0 with the words
\n\u201cconduct by a large number of persons in pursuit of a common purpose\u201d being a new definition of serious crime!!!<\/p>\n

With such new definitions of serious crime, that enable the use of some \u2018heavier\u2019 police departments to be applied against us.\u00a0 And was the end of all the RTS and similar gigs.
\nShame eh?<\/p>\n

Then, in \u2018rave mode\u2019, I have spent time with the Velvet Revolution and All Systems gigs, I had written \u2018Sound Advice\u2019 and the ‘Right to Party\u2019 – to try and raise these matters in peoples minds.
\nWell, we have lost each of the matters I\u2019m on about here.\u00a0\u00a0 Whoever you vote for, the government gets in!<\/p>\n

Now, what I am absolutely positive about though, is that people involved in the scene,
\nDID NOT DO ENOUGH ABOUT ANY OF IT AS IT HAPPENED AND NOW IS STILL GOING ON.<\/p>\n

People have to realise that self-interest and their own immediate happiness\u00a0 ( hedonism?), is not enough to make a festival, party rave, traveller site, gathering.
\nImportant, but not enough.<\/p>\n

Some folks on reading this will have been too young, to have had any objection to these changes as they have happened over recent years.\u00a0\u00a0 But many others of you will have been.<\/p>\n

The way gatherings are now organised,\u00a0 between those trying to conform with some pretty onerous conditions, (ie half to 2\/3 of a ticket price to \u2018self-police\u2019 and pay for your own public order management and drug search.!) and those involved with the \u2018free\u2019 end of things but at continued \u2018personal\u2019 rather than \u2018sheared\u2019 risks.<\/p>\n

This division is of course orchestrated by the other side.<\/p>\n

This [old] hippy\u00a0 Is now of the opinion that folk have now got the events \/ gathering \/ party they deserve.\u00a0\u00a0 Folks say that they haven’t seen me at many festivals in recent years …… well, there haven’t been any, have there? not what I mean anyway. I would be interested to know what folks think we should do about it.<\/p>\n
