{"id":222,"date":"2002-09-05T19:46:00","date_gmt":"2002-09-05T19:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tashuk.wordpress.com\/2002\/09\/05\/222\/"},"modified":"2002-09-05T19:46:00","modified_gmt":"2002-09-05T19:46:00","slug":"222","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alanlodge.co.uk\/blog\/archives\/222","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><font size=\"3\">Here&#8217;s a story.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a traveller sitting beneath an oak tree on a piece of land. <\/p>\n<p>The owner comes up to him, in a threatening manner and says:<\/font> <br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><font size=\"4\" face=\"Comic Sans MS\" color=\"#FF0000\">Get off my land!<\/p>\n<p>What makes it your land? <\/p>\n<p>My father gave it to me<\/p>\n<p>And what made it his land? <\/p>\n<p>His father gave it to him<\/p>\n<p>And what made it his land? <\/p>\n<p>His father fought for it<\/p>\n<p>Right says the traveller, rolling up his sleeves, <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll fight you for it then..!!<\/font><font size=\"4\" face=\"Comic Sans MS\"> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>At the end of the English Civil War, (The 1640s), people began to realise that after their sacrifice in fighting that war,<br \/>\n<br \/>they had replaced one bunch of uncaring bastards with another lot&#8230;. <\/p>\n<p>well, that&#8217;s politics and war for you, nothing new there then!!! <\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1571_23bw.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1571_23bwT.jpg?w=640\"><\/a>    <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_02bw.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_02bwT.jpg?w=640\"><\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_14bw.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_14bwT.jpg?w=640\"><\/a>    <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_15bw.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tash.gn.apc.org\/1573_15bwT.jpg?w=640\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I see paralells with today that are uncanny, even scary, at times. The people pitched against an unrepresentative state and aristocracy. The Church acting rather like the present day multinationals, and a lot of people who just wanted to be left alone, without interference fo church or state, on land that they respected and loved. I have included here, and throughout my site,  background info, to give you an idea of what I mean and why I care. <\/p>\n<p>350 years ago now, but a solid example of &#8220;DIY culture&#8221;, or what!<\/p>\n<p>How then.  I don&#8217;t think, that much has changed for many of us.  Not really.  It is about access to land, still.<\/p>\n<p>On the 22nd September, the Countryside Alliance is coming to town.  Well, I wont be joining them.  But while they&#8217;re in town, I&#8217;ll be going out to the countryside.  A stunt perhaps. there are still thousands who think like I do.
