[stock image] (Getty Images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A confused MAGA influencer recently misinterpreted a scientific study so badly that he now believes\u2026 that headphones are making people gay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian Miles Cheong took to X on 24 February to share research findings from the Netherlands that examine potentially toxic chemicals found in 81 models of European headphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study, titled \u2018The Sound of Contamination: A Comprehensive Analysis of Endocrine Disruptors and Hazardous Additives in the Headphones\u2019, detailed the potential long-term health effects of using the headphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile these products do not pose an acute or \u2018imminent\u2019 danger, the cumulative and synergistic effects of chronic exposure to these chemical classes pose a long-term risk to public health,\u201d the study states, with the long-term risks including cancers, reproductive issues and chronic diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cheong, however, took that to mean that headphones are causing men to become homosexual. \u201cDutch scientists: Your headphones are making you gay,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He posted that the tests found headphones \u201cto possess endocrine-disrupting chemicals, which mimic hormones, that can cause neurodevelopmental problems and the feminisation of males\u201d. At no point in the study does it conclude this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of writing, Cheong\u2019s post has 4.6 million views on X. Naturally, social media users have been mocking him in the quotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust found out I\u2019m gay because of my headphones of seven years from Ian Miles Cheong,\u201d wrote one user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInsecure men asking which headphones are okay to use in the comments I am DYING,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepinknews.com\/2026\/02\/26\/maga-influencer-thinks-headphones-are-making-men-gay\">https:\/\/www.thepinknews.com\/2026\/02\/26\/maga-influencer-thinks-headphones-are-making-men-gay<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do headphones really make men gay?
