On 28th June 1969, gay customers at a popular gay bar in New York’s Greenwich Village called the Stonewall Inn were fed up with the harassment they received from police because many gay establishments had been shut down by police. A riot broke out and continued for days which created conversations about gay civil rights that had never occurred before. Without the bravery of those people at the riots, the progression of rights for gays may not have been where it is today.
Pride celebrations in every city differ, but it can be expect to include parades, parties, picnics and much more!
